Aesthetic nose surgery or nose reshaping surgery is one of the most common procedures in aesthetic surgery. Aesthetic nose surgery can reduce or enlarge your nose, change the shape of your nose, narrow the width of your nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and upper lip. At the same time, we may be able to correct a congenital deformity or breathing problems.
First, we ask you why you want to be operated and what you expect from this surgery, do not ask yourself, carefully consider it and discuss it with your surgeon.
Patients over 18 years of age are allowed.
Complications (unwanted consequences) are rare and often trivial if your surgery is performed by an experienced plastic surgeon. Revision may be between 3-8%. Corrective revision surgery is usually a narrower and simpler operation.
The shape of your nasal bones and cartilages, the shape of your face, the thickness of your skin, your age and expectations will be discussed in the pre-interview. Please share your diseases you have and medications, herbals you use, your smoking habit, and any surgeries you previously had.
The operation is performed under general anesthesia or sedation assisted local anesthesia and lasts 1-2 hours on average. Depending on your physician’s preference, you may be monitored and discharged for a few hours at the hospital or you may be hospitalized for 1 night.
You will wake up from surgery with a nasal packing which is mostly made up silicone for easy removal and a nasal splint or cast on the outside.
Your face may live mild to moderate swelling and bruising. This process is most intense in the first 3 days and is completely temporary within 1-2 weeks. In order to reduce these complaints, the first 2-3 will apply ice as described by your doctor.
During the first few days after surgery, you usually have a mild leak from your nostrils, and you may feel a slight blockage in your nose for several weeks. If there is a packing inside the nose, it will be taken a few days later and you will feel much more comfortable.
Beware of sneezing for three weeks. On the second post-operative day you can take a warm shower. Avoid excessive physical activity (swimming, aerobics, jogging, cycling, etc.) for three weeks. Do not wear glasses for the first 8 weeks. Your nose skin after surgery is sensitive to sunlight. For this reason, we protect your nose from the sun for 8 weeks (solarium, sunbathing). Creams containing sunscreen factor (minimum SPF-30) may be used when long-term sun exposure is required.
Most patients with aesthetic nose surgery get up and walk within two days, and after a week of surgery, they can return to school or to work that is not very tiring.
Your doctor will want to see you for a month after the operation to check your progress in your healing.
In the days following the surgery, the healing is a slow and progressive process.
Very little swelling, especially at the tip of the nose, will last for months.
You can get some initial reactions from the family or some unexpected reactions from your friends. They may say they have not seen a change at the first gaze. The eventual outcome of aesthetic nose surgery will probably not occur for a year; so please be patient.
