Fat Transfer

Some patients may want to consider fat injections harvested from the patient’s own body, which can be re-injected to increase facial fullness, fill wrinkles or conceal shallow contours.

How are fat injections applied?

Fat transfer is different from “ready-to-use” laboratory-produced fillings; because it is not ready. They need to be obtained. However, the biggest advantages compared to ready-made fillers are that the product is abundant and its texture is close to flawless.

A “donor area” (such as abdomen or buttocks) should be marked and liposuction is performed for fat extraction. The sucked fat can then be transferred to the face, butt, breast, or other desired area as a graft.

The injected fat has to redevelop a blood supply to survive permanently. About 50% of the injected fat will survive and the surviving oil will not be absorbed forever.

Besides, most of the transferred fat usually survives, but the results are not very predictable. Typically, multiple fat injections will be needed to achieve desired results.
