Women who complain of large breast size due to various hereditary features, hormonal causes, excessive weight, weight-gain after pregnancy apply to Plastic Surgeons with back and neck pain, bra strap traces, rash under the breast and smell.
Pre-operative expectations are assessed, personal characteristics, familial basis are noted as well as breast tissue, shape, skin, age, marriage and child expectancy, new size of breast and new nipple. Depending on the age, mammography and / or breast ultrasonography may be required. Prior to surgery, please inform your doctor for your smoking habit, medicines, pills and herbal products you use.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia in the hospital and lasts approx. 1,5-3 hours. You may stay in the hospital for 1-3 nights. Preferably, breast reduction can be done with an inverted-T incision, with a vertical incision or with a periareolar incision. This decision is made upon the preference of your surgeon, the desire of the patient, the size of the breast, and the surgical technique to be selected.
Postoperative period is usually uneventful. The pain is minimal. Drain is mostly used and will be removed in 1-3 days. You will be wearing a sports-bra for 1 month. Absorbable sutures are used in general, so hopefully there will be no need for suture removal. Return to work is provided in 5-7 days. 2-3 months heavy exercises are not recommended.
